A complaint and a court claim serve different purposes.
Before selecting a route, identify the institution, the transaction or agreement and the result you are seeking. A complaint about handling, a request to reverse a charge and a claim for damages may require different evidence and procedures.
For federally regulated banks, the complaint framework provides for a written final response within 56 days. An eligible unresolved complaint may then be considered by OBSI; a dissatisfied customer can also seek OBSI review following an earlier final response, subject to eligibility and time limits.
Any representation or advice is limited to the services permitted under Ontario paralegal licensing rules. An inquiry is not a promise of representation in every financial or banking proceeding.
