A recorded statement and an EUO are not the same
A recorded statement is an interview recorded by or for the insurer. An examination under oath is a distinct process involving sworn testimony. The notice, applicable policy provisions and relevant law need to be reviewed before the obligations and arrangements can be assessed.
Bring the actual notice or request, including attachments and any proposed document list. Tell us whether a date has already been agreed and who is conducting the examination.
Preparation grounded in your own knowledge
We can help organize a chronology, compare it with records and identify subjects likely to require careful explanation. This includes distinguishing an exact recollection from an estimate and recognizing when you genuinely do not know an answer.
We do not script false answers, suggest invented explanations or encourage withholding relevant information. When a prior answer appears inaccurate, the appropriate response is to consider how to correct or clarify it transparently.
Be clear about what is included
Preparation services, written correspondence and attendance are different tasks. Attendance at an interview or examination is not included unless expressly agreed and legally permitted. Where lawyer assistance is required, that need should be addressed before the scheduled event.
We can help identify practical issues such as interpretation, document delivery, breaks and scheduling for discussion with the party conducting the process. Do not treat an inquiry to this office as an adjournment or confirmation that someone will attend.
Questions about this service
Will you attend the examination?
Not automatically. The written retainer must expressly address any attendance and the permitted scope of the service.
Can I guess when I do not remember?
Preparation should help you be accurate about what you know, what you estimate and what you cannot recall. Inventing certainty can create avoidable problems.
