Identify the kind of dispute
An unauthorized transaction, a purchase you authorized but dispute with a merchant, and a service or billing disagreement are different issues. Start by identifying the transaction, the reason it is disputed and when the problem was reported.
Preserve statements, receipts, communications and complaint reference numbers. Do not send PINs, passwords, one-time codes or full card details through a website contact form.
Review the institution’s reasoning
For unauthorized transactions at federally regulated financial institutions, FCAC explains that the institution must investigate relevant circumstances; authentication technology alone does not establish customer responsibility.
We can help review the response, identify unanswered factual points and prepare a complaint that states the requested resolution clearly. A merchant chargeback process and a legal claim are not the same remedy and may involve different requirements.
Escalate with a useful record
Keep the original complaint date, written acknowledgment and final response together. A concise chronology is often more helpful than forwarding disconnected screenshots without context.
We can assess whether an internal escalation, an available external review or a permitted court process is appropriate. Assistance with banking disputes is subject to authorized paralegal scope; not every financial dispute can be handled through this office.
